Unwavering I stood, to face the fears
Vanquished, being the conclusion
Wary, I was now being left alone
Xenium of fear, by the darkness
Yielded, under pressure it flowed
Zizz, of my parents finally broke
Linked to dVerse. Lillian is hosting with alphabet sestets. I don’t have to tell, but it’s not a great memory of my childhood.
That’s a confession if ever! Well done and for writing such an original piece!

Jane I don’t why but the first thing that childhood word evoked was that subdued memory

It obviously marked you. Children’s emotions are so easily marked, and incidents make memories that are never erased.

Ouch! And you know what? If truth be told and tongues were loosed, probably a memory of many a child!
Glad you decided to A-B-C with me today!

I remember those days myself. Not a pleasant feeling. Very embarrassing! Great poem of reality for many children.

It’s embarrassing and evokes a shame and guilt which is not a good memory…

It is, but it is not uncommon for young children. The important thing is how parents handle it when it happens.

A difficult time for sure…and probably for many of us. There is a link between bed-wetting and emotional struggles. Or sometimes a physical thing….I had a kidney infection when I was a child that caused the same symptom.

It is normal for children to wet the bed while sleeping and bedwetting is typically not even considered to be a problem until after age 7.

The “finally broke” is such a telling last line. I love the entrance directly into the child’s experience, and the subject matter is so unique that even with the letters you chose, the form of the sestet retreats into the background for the story to emerge. Beautifully done.
